ETCH Empathy is honoured to be licensed to run Human Library™ in Singapore.

Human Library™ gives people opportunities to share their stories with others in their community by becoming human “books”. It builds a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. Within the human library, difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.

To date, ETCH Empathy has hosted 4 Human Library events in February 2016, August 2016, Nov/Dec 2016 and Jan 2017.

However, it doesn’t stop there. We are always interested in gathering as many stories as we can! If you have a story to tell…

Join the movement as a Human Book

Have an interesting story from your life to share? Willing to spend an hour speaking with enthusiastic strangers?

We always need new books. Simply put, there is no Human Library without Human Books. Our Books share stories about times where they faced prejudices or stereotypes, maybe a turning point in their life, a situation that felt hopeless, or a difficult decision. Stories are shared through respectful conversations with members of the public. By volunteering, Books give their permission for the readers at Human Library events to ask questions about their life, and to talk openly about issues.

We promise that being a book in the Human Library is more than you expect and something you will never forget.

So please fill in this application form to the best of your ability. Once processed you will be contacted by our librarian.

Thank you for your time and interest in working with the Human Library.

Still unsure if you can be a good Human Book? Check out some our current books here.
